Big Muddy Workshop was founded in 1990 by John Royster with a vision to deliver environmentally responsible design. The firm is recognized for its “green” design solutions and its inclusive planning process.
As a landscape architect with extensive experience in physical master planning, John's expertise can be seen in the wide variety of projects designed by the Big Muddy Workshop team, as well as in the quality of natural resources analysis, ecologic restoration planning and low impact site development for which the Workshop has become nationally known. Big Muddy Workshop has extensive design expertise in parks, trails, campuses, green infrastructure, nature centers, historic sites and cultural landscapes.
